Dans, for Satan (Dance, dammit) is an enthralling reflection on gender and sexuality and on being caught within your own identity. This expressive solo performance discusses with great humour the fight for equality, or in other words what can be called “the post-equated society” where it is largely said that men and women can do the same. But it might not have gotten as far as we enjoy telling ourselves, and the ability to handle the freedom cannot be taught by our mothers. The performer is constantly shifting between being in power, being empowered, and being as if controlled by others. In “Dans, for Satan” the innocence is mixed with the beast, the clown, and the gloomy hindsight. The piece is a question asked with an exclamation mark.
