The Artificial Nature Project

15. mars –16. mars 2014

15,16/3 kl 19.00. Dansens Hus

What does it mean to make a choreography for materials where human movement is no longer in the center of attention? How can one address the force of things, materials, objects and matters as something that acts upon humans? What is the relationship between the animate and the inanimate world?

Mette Ingvartsen is a Danish choreographer and dancer. She studied in Amsterdam and Brussels where she graduated from the performing arts school P.A.R.T.S. Since then she has instigated several research projects and made numerous performances. Questions of kinesthesia, perception, affect and sensation have been crucial to most of her work. Starting with «evaporated landscapes», a performance made of foam, fog, light and sound, this interest has led to a series of propositions that extend choreography into non-human materials. Her work «The Artificial Nature Project» reintroduces the human performer into a network of connections between human and non-human actors. Ingvartsen is artist in residence at the KAAITHEATER in Brussels from 2013 till 2016.
